Our desire is to help people take the next step in their spiritual growth. In the church we teach, disciple, and encourage our Polish brothers and sisters. In the community we teach English, which allows us to meet a variety of teens and adults. We are involved with the camp ministries during the summer months.
About us:
We are just “normal” people who are trying to follow God’s plan for our lives. That path took an unexpected sharp turn when He called us to overseas missions in our mid-forties. Our goals were to assist a young church, teach English to build relationships, and serve in a former Communist-controlled country because we were impressed with their resilience. In His providence, God led us to a church plant and language school in Lubin, Poland.
Like many countries, people in Poland are hungry to learn or improve their English. We enjoy interacting with our students, and often get the opportunity to talk about spiritual topics. From time to time, we also get invited to speak in local public schools to talk about American culture.
Poland is a primarily Catholic country, which makes it a safe place to live and morally quite conservative. However, while many people know about God, very few understand the significance of what Jesus did for us and how to live an abundant life. Because many young people have become disillusioned with the Catholic church, they are walking away from God. This is the perfect time to show them what a relationship with Jesus really means.
We see Poland as a land of paradoxes: a unique mix of old and new, order and chaos, tolerance and prejudice. Poles are group-oriented, yet individualistic; pessimistic, yet persevering; looking back while forward-thinking.
We love living and working in Poland, but the work is overwhelming. Evangelical Christians are only 0.2% of the population with almost 90% of the counties having no evangelical church according to converge.org. As missionaries in Poland reaching retirement age, we desire to see the next generation take over and witness a huge revival.
