Counsel children in a poor area of Medellin, Colombia who are at risk for entering a lifestyle of gangs, prostitution and/or drug use. Be a part of those reaching out to these children and offer hope and healing.
Licensed Therapist (Trauma)
REQUIREMENTS:
Person of prayer. Counseling license recommended, with specific training in trauma in order to understand this population and their trauma triggers. Spanish language required. Learn the culture. Earn the trust of the community. Vision trip is not required, but recommended.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with at-risk children to provide hope in Christ compared to other options in their area of gangs, drugs and prostitution. Provide counseling services to children. Extend the love of God.

Medellin is a city of at least 4 million people. It is a beautiful, modern city, surrounded by mountains. A lot of the people live in apartments for security reasons, as well as the fact that high rises are the makeup of most cities in South America. It is a Western society, though the type of people you would be working with are primarily from the low-income area surrounding the city. They are very poor people who have little resources. Housing would be coordinated with the on-site missionaries.
