June 11, 2025 – Updated Announcement:

Dear Partners in Ministry,

It is with great sorrow that WorldVenture shares this news with you:

On Friday, June 6, 2025, Robert (“Rob”) and Martine (Turcotte) Karch were involved in an accident at their home in Quebec, Canada. Rob passed away, while Martine was hospitalized and later released.

Local news reported that Rob and Martine were exposed to toxic fumes while working on a project. The fumes rendered them unconscious. Both were rushed to the hospital, but while Martine recovered, Rob succumbed.

We are devastated to lose Rob, even as we thank God for Martine’s recovery. We ask you to keep Martine and their adult children, Caleb and Constance, in your prayers.

A funeral service has been scheduled for June 21st in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Additional information including funeral details will be provided soon. The family will try to provide a live streaming option for those who cannot attend in person to view the service online.

We understand this tragedy creates questions and uncertainties, and we are committed to addressing those in due time.

In the meantime, we thank you for your faithful support as we care for the Karch family. We take comfort from the very same good news that Rob and Martine devoted their lives to sharing with others, remembering the Apostle Paul’s words in 1 Thessalonians 4:13 that “we mourn, but not as those without hope.”

Mourning with those mourn, yet confident in the promise of the Resurrection,

Jeff Denlinger

Glen and I grieve the loss of Rob. We had become friends over the past several years.

We will be in prayer for Martine, Caleb and Constance, as well as those who have benefited so greatly from Rob’s gifting and love for God; all who are reeling from this tragic loss.

  • Doug Hazen says:

Rob became one of my dearest friends as I had the privilege of growing with him in Christ and helping him join our WorldVenture family. I loved him like a son. In my note to Martine I included the Apostle Peter’s promise in 1 Peter 5:10. “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
Rob left a huge impact in his devotion to his family, zeal for Jesus, and commitment to the gospel. Because of Jesus, he is alive!

  • Stan & Marilyn (Goddard) Rowland says:

We knew Rob & Martine since before they married. Our church, Eastmont Church in Bend Oregon has supported them along the way. We are so saddened to hear of the accident, thanking God that Martine is OK. We will continue to lift the family in prayer for the difficult days and months ahead.
God bless you all. Stan & Marilyn Rowland
